This is the first book from Ms Day that I have read. It did take me a while to get into it, but I decided that I'd hunker down and finish it.

One of us tells the story of two university friends, Martin and Ben who have been inseparable for decades—well, Martin would have called them best friends—until everything imploded at Ben’s 40th birthday party. Seven years later, out of nowhere, Martin gets an invite back into the glittering Fitzmaurice inner circle. He can't say no, mostly because it's the ultimate chance to settle an old score.

Ben is practically being groomed for Prime Minister now, sitting pretty at the top. But things aren't quite as shiny as they look. There's Ben’s wife, Serena, who's slowly suffocating in her so-called privileged life; their daughter Cosima, an activist rebelling against everything her parents represent; and Richard Take, a disgraced MP desperate for a political resurrection. Add in Fliss, the family black sheep whose sudden death leaves way too many questions unanswered, and you've got a powerhouse family—and a whole country—slowly tearing itself apart at the seams under the weight of its own secrets.

Not a bad tale.
